Hospital Wastewater Management: A Sustainable Treatment Scheme by Our Experts

Executive Summary:

EHD, a renowned healthcare entity in Bangladesh, granted us the chance to address issues with their current wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). The plant was failing to meet local discharge regulations for wastewater.

Given their commitment to adhering to global standards for wastewater generation and discharge regulations, EHD required the expertise of a wastewater specialist to resolve the current challenges with their WWTP.

Background:

The EHD hospital, located in the capital of Bangladesh, houses a WWTP utilizing sequential batch reactor technology. The WWTP is entirely underground, posing a challenge for any further modifications to the plant. For over a year, they’ve been grappling with treatment process failures without identifying the root cause of this issue. Consequently, they reached out to us to help find the most effective solution to overcome this persistent difficulty.

How Experts Solved the Problem:

Hospital wastewater can contain various contaminants, including pharmaceuticals, pathogens, and chemicals. Its proper treatment is crucial to prevent the spread of infections and protect the environment. Advanced treatment technologies are often employed to remove or reduce these harmful substances before discharge into the environment. Monitoring and managing hospital wastewater play a significant role in preserving water quality and public health.

Envexperts specialist responded to the call of EHD and investigated the treatment process of their existing system. The expert found major process mismanagement in the current system and accordingly suggested EHD to correct the system. The process design was revised by Envexperts and necessary actions were implemented by EHD under the supervision of Envexperts.

The prime modification was carried out in the existing aeration tank where Envexpert team developed bacterial growth for optimum treatment of EHD wastewater.

Success Factors:

In the end, the specialists from this platform successfully addressed the ongoing issue in EHD’s WWTP. Presently, the wastewater complies with local government discharge regulations. Following modifications made by the Envexperts team, EHD achieved satisfactory results in treating their wastewater.
